First class

The first class was indeed fascinating. The class was done in lecture form. It took place over a three hour period with a five minute break. During that time we covered the invention of writing, paper and printing. We watched a short video about different styles of forming pages. (papers were created quite large, and were then folded and cut to form leaves).

The entire three hours felt like five minutes. It was amazing. We saw a facsimile of the Gutenburg Bible, a papyrus page, several books that are hundreds of years old, actual parchment, and velum, and more. We really took a trip to the past, and I was riveted.
