Meal Three: Chicken Paillard with Za’atar, Israeli Couscous with Golden Raisins and Almonds, & Fennel Salad

Hey guys, sorry for the delay last week ended with some exciting news, and a trip coming up, which meant I was busy making all of the reservations. More on that later this week….but for now, back to Kitchn Synch.

On Thursday N and I made the third meal and our last one for a little bit. The meal was, Chicken Paillard with Za’atar, Israeli Couscous with Golden Raisins and Almonds, & Fennel Salad and we were happy to end on that note.

We started out with our protein:

Chicken Breasts

And our oil:

EVOO

We opened up the Odds and Ends package to find:

1 Fennel bulb

1 Shallot

1 Lime

1 container Dijon Mustard

1 bag Israeli Couscous

1 bag Golden Raisins

1 bag Za’atar

1 bag Slivered Almonds

1 bag Black Pepper

1 bag Kosher Salt

The ingredients were nice and fresh. We had no complaints.

Ingredient Freshness: A

This recipe was fairly simple. It required three containers, a pot for the couscous, a pan for the chicken and a bowl for the fennel salad.

Ease of Cooking: A

This recipe was fairly quick. It took around half an hour.

Speed of Cooking: A

This time the recipe instruction was good, we didn’t have any questions about the directions.

Recipe Instruction: A

This recipe was very good. The chicken was very tasty, the couscous was really nice especially with the contrast of the almonds and raisins for texture. The best part for me was the fennel salad. I have always avoided things like fennel and anise as I HATE the taste of black licorice, which these items both taste like. However, the combination of the pepper, lime and fennel was quite good and did not taste like black licorice. I really enjoyed it!

Taste & Filling: A

All of the ingredients are easy to find and we definitely plan on making this again.

Remake ability: A

In the end, it was nice to have a really good meal as the last one for a little while. Maybe we will try Kitchn Synch again in a few weeks, but for now, we bid you farewell.
