The other night N and I made our third meal, also our last from our first box, from JChef, Chicken Satay Skewers with Spicy Peanut Sauce and Jasmine Rice.

We started out with our protein:

Chicken Breast

We opened up the meal bag to find:

1 bag of Jasmine Rice

1 bag of a small bunch of Scallion greens

1 bag of Honey

1 container of White Vinegar

1 container of Rice Vinegar

1 container of Peanut Butter

1 container of Sriracha Sauce

1 container of Soy Sauce

Once again the ingredients were in great condition. The scallions lasted beautifully.

Ingredient Freshness: A

The meal didn’t require any fancy techniques.

Ease of Cooking: A

It was an easy recipe but cooking the rice and chicken took a while,  approximately 40 minutes.

Speed of Cooking: B+

The recipe instructions were clear and easy to follow even though the image and colors were odd as if the printer was running out of ink.

Recipe Instruction: A-

This recipe was very tasty and we both enjoyed it. The peanut sauce was absolutely delicious! The combination of the sweet tasty rice, the spicy peanuty sauce and the bright scallions were a fantastic balance. It was really delicious!

Taste: A

N and I were full after this meal. It did feel a little unbalanced without a green of some kind but we were not hungry so it worked for us.

Filling: A

The meal looked pretty close to the picture. This time sadly, I did not get the chance to plate it up so you will have to trust that it would have looked like the picture if we could have plated, due to a very hectic night, we had to eat on the run.

Looks like the Recipe: A

All of the ingredients are easily findable. As I said above, I would probably add a green to balance it a bit. But it was really delicious and I look forward to making this again!

Remake ability: A

We were very happy with this meal.

Overall Grade: A

Notes:

  • Salt and pepper and Olive Oil were not included in this meal kit so we used our own.
  • The ingredients were not measured to fit the recipe at all, after using them as directed and measuring carefully this is what I had left. Only the sriracha should have had left as it was add to taste. I am very happy that I measured and didn’t just add it all as you should be able to with this type of meal kit as it would have been so off in proportion.
